4What is an E-Cigarette?
Electronic cigarettes (also known as e-cigarettes or personal vaporizers) are an alternative to flame lit tobacco cigarettes. They are battery-operated devices that create an inhalable, water-based mist, or vapor, instead of smoke. The rechargeable battery powers a heating element called an “atomizer.” The element uses low heat to turn liquid in the cartridge, which contains propylene glycol, glycerin, food flavoring and nicotine (also known as e-liquid), into a fog-like mist or vapor.
5What is a Vape Device?
A vape device, or vape pen, is another term for e-cigarette, and is the instrument that turns e-liquid into vapor. It consists of a rechargeable battery and a tank that screw together. It’s powered on and off by the user via a button on the pen. The tank is filled with e-liquid, which is then heated by the atomizer inside the tank.
6What are the contents of Ejuice?
Ejuice is the liquid used in vaporizers to create vapor. It comes in a variety of flavors and nicotine strengths. The main ingredients in Ejuice are propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), food safe flavorings, and with or without nicotine. Both PG and VG are used in a variety of foods that you consume on a daily basis, and are deemed safe by the FDA.
7What does “PG/VG” stand for?
PG is Propylene Glycol, a thin liquid that has a slight sweet taste to it. VG is Vegetable Glycerin, a thicker and tasteless liquid. Both liquids are often found in many food products and are a base for all e-liquids.
8What is the difference between nicotine and tobacco?
Nicotine and tobacco are not the same thing. Tobacco in traditional cigarettes consists of dried leaves that contain nicotine naturally. Nicotine, as a liquid, can be extracted from many different sources and then added into a PG/VG base along with flavorings. Even tomatoes contain small amounts of nicotine.
9What is Freebase nicotine?
Freebase is the purest form of nicotine and is the default "go-to" for most manufacturers. This nicotine solution is simply added to a mixture of vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) which "carry" the nicotine with them when vaped. It's also what we use in nicotine replacement therapies—like gums, patches, sprays, and lozenges. This is the nicotine that is used in “normal” eJuice. Typically the nicotine strengths of freebase eJuice are 3mg, 6mg, and 12mg. Higher freebase nicotine levels are also available in eJuice from a number of companies.
10What are Nic Salts?
Nic Salt is a new type of nicotine being used by many companies instead of the original “freebase” nicotine that has been standard in the industry. Nic Salt is the natural state of nicotine found in the tobacco leaf. It enters the body differently than the industry standard nicotine most vapers are used to. Nicotine salt eliquid is much easier to inhale than regular eliquid due to its biocompatibility. The vape is less harsh on the throat and allows vapers to use stronger eliquids. It's this ability to inhale more nicotine per puff that makes nic salts more satisfying for some vapers as it more closely mimics the nicotine found in a cigarette.
11Will I have an allergic reaction to Ejuice?
Each individual is different and can have different sensitivities to any kind of chemical substance. E-Juices are made from propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), nicotine, and FDA approved food-grade flavors. Please consult with a medical professional to find out if you are allergic to any of these ingredients.
12Is vaping really safer than smoking?
Traditional cigarettes come with a number of major health concerns, including increasing your risk of cancer, heart disease and stroke, while vaping is said to come with significantly less risk. There has been a lot of mention in the press about vaping and whether it's safe or not. To get to the bottom of the issue Dr Nicholas Hopkinson, honorary respiratory consultant and clinical lead for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Royal Brompton Hospital, gives his verdict on e-cigarettes and smoking cessation. ‘Vaping is much safer than smoking, says Dr Hopkinson. ‘We know that because the toxic chemicals that are present in cigarette smoke are either not present in vape, or are present at a much lower level.’ A recent cross-sectional study tested the breath, saliva and urine samples of 181 participants, some of whom smoked cigarettes, others who vaped. The results showed that there were significantly lower cancer-causing chemicals present in those who vaped. ‘People who use e-cigarettes to quit smoking will get a substantial health benefit,’ says Dr Hopkinson. According to Dr Hopkinson, smokers should be encouraged to use vaping as a form of Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help them quit, ‘but you'd then encourage them to try and quit vaping too – though not at the expense of going back to smoking.’ 'Ultimately, vaping might be better than smoking,’ says Dr Hopkinson, ‘but it’s not as good as fresh air!’ Excerpts taken from https://www.netdoctor.co.uk
13How can vaping be a benefit to my life?
Not only is vaping a healthier alternative to smoking traditional smoking it also has a number of other benefits. First and foremost, you will save a fair bit of money not purchasing traditional cigarettes. After the initial purchase of your device, on an ongoing basis, all you need is ejuice and coils. These tend to cost a lot less than traditional smoking. As an example. Generally speaking, if you are an average vaper, you can make a 60 mL bottle of e-liquid last around two weeks for an average price of $30. By contrast, a pack of traditional cigarettes cost around $14 a day or $196 every two weeks! Another huge advantage is that vaping produces no smoke or unwelcome smells. Due to the make up of eJuice, the resulting vapor cloud could be more dense than cigarette smoke but leaves no smoke or bad smells on your clothes, hands, etc. Also, since the whole process of vaping is electronic and does not involve any combustion or burning, thereby avoiding any messing burn holes in carpets, sheets, or clothing. Of course with vaping, you don't need any lighters or ashtrays either! You do find more and more retail establishments allowing vaping to their patrons indoors. Now you can calm your cravings at work, in the restaurant, at the bar, or airport without having to step outside. Do make sure to check with the establishment, since there still a large number that do not allow vaping indoor, so be sure before you start vaping.
